Reducing Your Stress With Robots --
Rosie has Arrived.
Once again I shuddered as
I spied the latest coating of debris on my dresser. I had
just dusted the other day and lo and behold it was dirty
again. My sweet little kitty cat, Boo Boo the Fifth, looked
up at me guiltlessly as if to say:"It's not my fault." And yet she was guilty, along with her
sister Zelda the Graymalkin. Our two rescue cats can’t help
it if they are full of fur and thus collect and distribute
tons of dust and dirt. I love them dearly but were it not
for my pets my house would be much cleaner. I grabbed a
Swiffer Duster and picked up enough dust to start a garden.
Other than getting rid of my cats I had to find a solution.
Just as I was doing a search online for local maid services
my hubby burst breathlessly through my office door.
"Honey, I've got a fix for
our dust problem -- a Roomba robot!" he exclaimed as he
proudly presented his latest toy like a child at show and
tell. Now, we had been down this road before when he
approached me with this Roomba idea when the darn thing
first came out and I emphatically said “no.” As a matter of
fact, as I recall, not only did I say “no,” but went on to
conclude that this very pricy vacuum cleaner was nothing
more than a gimmick to separate hard-working consumers from
their money. I was going to have none of that! I told him to
promptly take it back for a full refund.
“At least let me show you
how it works, then if you don’t like it, I’ll pack it up and
take it back,” he said with a toothsome grin. “The store
said to try it out for a couple days and if I wasn’t 100
percent satisfied then I could bring it back. The sales
clerk seemed sincere when she said she’s never had to do a
return on one.”
I reluctantly agreed. We
charged her up overnight and the next day we put her to work
in a room I had just swept. After only 20 minutes, Paul
brought the Roomba back to me and carefully opened its dirt
compartment as if he were Indiana Jones opening the Ark of
the Covenant. I was surprised to see a tank full of dirt,
dust and fur -- and I mean jam-packed.
“Oh my,” I exclaimed! “I
hate to admit that you are right and I am wrong, but that is
simply amazing.”
I asked him to put “her”
back down, so I could watch how this little robot worked.
She tanked over our living room’s wood floor, carefully
churning under furniture and over carpets. She sensed where
the drops in the stairs were and did not fall over. She
sensed where extra dirt was and went in circles until every
speck of dust was picked up. She sensed where the walls were
and chugged along the baseboards brushing out dust even at
corners. When her batteries got low, she sensed where her
docking station was and found her way back to re-charge for
her next battle with the evil dirt.
Because she moves around
the house like a little pet, we have named her “Rosie the
Roomba Robot.” If you get why we named her “Rosie” you are
probably too old and if you don’t get it you are probably
too young.
Despite my initial
skepticism, “Rosie the Roomba Robot” has turned out to be
one ofthe best
purchases hubby has ever made. She not only saves us the
time it takes to clean the floors but also decreases the
amount of dirt and dust that gets in the air and deposits
itself on other surfaces. Our wool carpets look as beautiful
as when they were new and my floors have never been cleaner.
I don’t have to move the sofa every other day to dust under
it, she just goes under there, finds dust bunnies and eats
them up.
We now use her in two or more different rooms each day and
then start all over. She can even be programmed to do her
work when we are away from home. She really is simply
amazing and I am a convert. I really love this little
machine and don’t know how we managed without her. Rosie has
arrived.
We recommend our host -- 1&1. They are reliable, inexpensive and provide great customer service.
